胸郭Thorax(Thorax)

胸郭【きょうかく】 The part of the trunk between the neck and the abdomen. It is supported by the skeletal framework of the thoracic cage. The inferior boundary of the thorax is formed by the inferior thoracic aperture and the diaphragm.(胸郭は１２の胸椎、１２対の肋骨および胸骨でできる籠状の骨格で、これらに付着した筋肉、筋膜から形成されている。その囲む内腔を胸腔という。胸郭はほぼ円錐状で、上口・下口および肋骨できる側壁がある。後部では、胸椎の椎体が胸腔内に突出しているので、胸腔の横断面は腎臓形を呈する。ギリシャ語のthorax（胴、胸、胸甲）に由来する。)
