蝸牛軸Modiolus cochleae(Modiolus cochleae)

蝸牛軸【かぎゅうじく】 Conical part of the cochlea that is hollowed out to lodge the cochlear nerve. It forms the medial wall of the spiral canal of cochlea.(蝸牛軸は側頭骨の錐体の長軸にほぼ直角にある円錐形の中軸で蝸牛ラセン管がまわりを２回半ないし２回と３／４回ラセン状に取り巻いている。全体としてカタツムリの殻に似ているので蝸牛と呼ばれる。)
